Hiatus
We are on a temporary hiatus while we find a new venue for the show. Thank you so much for your support and we'll post an update with show dates and location shortly!
About Us:
Story Club Cleveland is a non-profit open mic for stories that has been operating in Cleveland since 2016. It is one of the many Story Club shows that has existed since Story Club was founded in Chicago in 2008 (check out Story Club Pittsburgh and Story Club SW Michigan!).
Story Club is a national nonfiction storytelling show that was founded in Chicago and is currently held in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and SW Michigan! We have been featured in Poets and Writers, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, WBEZ, WKSU, Spectrum News Ohio, Cleveland.com, Crain's Cleveland, 106.5 The Lake, and we were voted the Best New Bar Event by Thrillist Cleveland!
How it Works:
- There are 3 open mic slots per show. Open mic participants are given 8 minutes (1300 words) in which to tell a true story. If more than 3 storytellers sign up we draw names for the slots.
- There are 2 featured performers for each show, who provide producers with drafts of their stories and are paid for their work. Want to be featured? Come see the show, and then email a true story (1600 words max) to [email protected] for consideration.
- The audience votes for their favorite story and the winner receives a coveted microphone trophy!
- $15 tickets before hand ($20 at the door) helps us to PAY our featured performers! We pride ourselves on being one of the best-paying shows for writers Cleveland!
- We are a non-profit and a proud fiscal sponsee of nonprofit The Reading Room CLE.
